Artist Statement for Beacon, Hosted by The Annenberg Community Beach House 

"Beacon" is intended as a reverent response to the L.A. fires. It invites the public to sit in reflection, experiencing the ocean view as wind interacts with draped fabric panels that mimic the coastal mountain outline. The crown of the piece, bamboo roots drifted from the Santa Clara River to the Pacific Ocean, roots our city's connection to nature—beautiful and changing. As the sun sets in the west, the sunrise will be reflected in the chair's reflective panels, creating a feeling of peace, tranquility, and renewal.
